Cute Croissants Bento


Simple but cute. These Cute Croissants are pretty easy to make. Just halve the ham and cheese croissants, then plug in the fun-eyed food pick on each of them. 

The fun-eyed food picks are my favourite bento tools as it gives extra cuteness to my bento.

For my youngest son, I prepared :
1. Ham and cheese croissant
2. Chicken ragout rissoles
3. Ham and cheese scroll
4. Kiwi fruit for recess


My eldest son had the same menu as his little brother, but he had cut apples for recess instead.

Cute Egg Mold for Jelly


Recently my friend gave me this cute Doraemon egg mold from her trip to Japan. Instead of molding egg, I used it for molding jelly. And I really love how it turns out.

For my eldest son, I prepared :

His little brother had the same menu, but he prefers kiwi fruit for recess instead.

Back to School 2016



The boys are so excited for their first day of school in 2016. My eldest son goes to year 5 and my youngest son goes to year 2. They can't wait to see their friends again!
To make this day even special, I prepared these bento for them.



For my eldest son, I prepared :
1. Ham and cheese mini sandwich
2. Hard boiled egg with salt & pepper (decorated with cheese, carrot, and nori)
3. Cheese pillow puff with cheese and "Year 5" writing (made of carrot) on it
4. Corn on the cob
5. Lettuce leaves
6. Rockmelon cuts for recess



My youngest son had similar lunches, with "year 2" writing on the cheese pillow puff.

Croissants and Pies Bento


The boys had ham & cheese croissants and Chicken, bacon & leek pies for their lunch. You may find the pies recipe here
For extra cuteness, I put my favourite fun eyes bento picks to the croissants. I also add black sesame seed for the noses and tiny pieces of red crab sticks for the mouths.

For my eldest son, I prepared :
1. Ham and cheese croissant
2. Chicken, bacon & leek pie
3. Hard boiled egg
4. Asparagus wrapped with ham

Quiche and Mini Croissant Bento


Today I would love to share my favourite quiche recipe. It is perfect for school lunch filler or snack after school. Here is the recipe :

Mushroom, Leek, and Bacon Mini quiche

Ingredients:

400 grams Sliced button mushrooms
75 grams butter
1 medium leek, sliced
2 cloves of garlic
2 rashers of bacon, diced
4-5 eggs
½ cup cream or milk
Salt & pepper to taste
3 sheets frozen puff pastry
½ cup grated tasty cheese

Method:

1. Thaw pastry and pre-heat oven to 210 degrees. 
2. Lightly grease with spray oil a 12 cup muffin tin (standard size). 
3. Use a jar or cutter to cut out 4 circles from each thawed pastry sheet, large enough to line muffin cups. 
4. Once all muffin cups are lined with pastry, make a small cross in the bottom of each pastry cup with a bread knife, for even cooking.
5. Fry mushrooms, sliced leek, and garlic in butter until golden brown, set aside. 
6. Cook bacon and combine with mushrooms. 
7. Evenly divide mixture between all 12 cups. 
8. Combine eggs, cream and salt and pepper in a jug and whisk together. 
9. Pour egg mixture evenly between all 12 cups and top with grated cheese.
10. Cook in pre-heated oven for 25 minutes or until pastry browned and cheese melted.

3. Dried sultanas
4. Pineapple cuts for recess



For my youngest son, I prepared :
1. Mushroom, leek, and bacon quiche
2. Ham and cheese mini croissant
3. Diced beetroot
4. Apple cuts for recess

Kid's Favourite Bento


These are my kid's favourite meals for school lunch or snack after school. They are ham & cheese mini croissants, steamed buns with ham & cheese filling, and siomay with fish roe on top. My little one loves the addition of fish roe, he said they popped in his mouth :)


So, for my youngest son, I prepared :
1. Ham & cheese croissant
2. Ham & cheese steamed bun (recipe for steamed bun here)
3. Siomay with fish roe on top (recipe here)
4. Corn on the cob
5. Carrot sticks
6. Apple cuts for recess



And my eldest son had the same lunches except he had mandarin for recess.

Get Along Bento


I've done so many lunches with croissants so it is quite hard to find a title for this bento. But because the croissant monsters looked so friendly at the penguin sausages, I named these lunches : Get along bento :)

Phineas Croissants Bento


For me, these croissants look like phineas from Phineas and Ferb, Disney characters. I just filled up the croissants with ham and cheese, then cut them into two. I put these eyes food picks (affiliate-link below) to make them "alive". Very simple yet cute indeed!

My kids love the written banana. Just score the banana peel with sharp knife, and it will turn brownish in few minutes.

Santa Reindeers Bento


Christmas is fast approaching! How's your Christmas preparation up to now ?

Tiger Santa and Croissant




My eldest son loves rice. So I packed for him these cute tiger santa onigiri using my favourite tool, below :


My little one prefers ham & cheese croissant instead. So I packed for him a simple bento that only needs a little time to prepare.



What I prepared for my eldest son :
1. Tiger santa onigiri (white steamed rice, nori, sausage and white crab stick)
2. Homemade fish ball
3. Tofu, snow peas, and pork minced stir fried
4. Ham and carrot
5. Milk jelly with nata de coco
6. Banana for recess


And for my youngest son,

Cutie Eyes Bento


I baked ham, corn and vegetables muffin for the kids. I've made this recipe before, you may find it here.
And I added my new food picks from Bento USA for extra cuteness. This food picks are very handy to save time.

Cheat's Ham and Cheese Croissants


This recipe by Miguel Maestre is very easy to make, yet so tasty. Suitable for school lunches or snack after school.

Cheat's Ham and Cheese Croissants
Recipe by: Miguel Maestre

Ingredients :
1 puff pastry sheet thick
1 egg yolk
4 slices of ham of the bone
75g grated emmenthal cheese (I used tasty cheddar cheese)
1 tbsp Dijon mustard

Method :
Unroll your puff pastry and cut it into two equal parts.
Brush with mustard. Drop 2 slices of ham on each part.
Cut the pastry with the ham into triangle shapes on each part then sprinkle with grated cheese and cracked pepper.
Roll each triangle from its base to the tip to form small croissants.
Brush each puff with egg yolk. Place the croissants on a silicon baking mat, and put in preheated oven for 15-20 minutes at 220°C.

Tuna Sandwich and Mini Croissants


I got the tuna sandwich recipe from my friend. It is quite easy to make and tastes yummy. Here is the recipe :

TUNA SANDWICH

Ingredients :
1 pack of wholemeal sandwich bread
1 tin of tuna
a quarter of white onion, diced
1/2 bottle of mayonnaise

Method :
1. Mix well the ingredients altogether.
2. Get two slices of wholemeal sandwich bread and spread the tuna mixture on one side, and cover with the other side of the bread.
3. Repeat the process for the rest of the sandwich bread.



For my eldest son I prepared :
1. Tuna sandwich

3. Egg omelet
4. Carrot sticks
5. Apple for recess
