Bert from Sesame Street

We love Bert and Ernie characters from Sesame Street. They are very funny and complement to each other. This time, Bert is the star in my son's bento box. It consists of :
1. Bert sandwich (ham & cheese sandwich, nori, carrot, crab stick)
2. Corn on the cob
3. Fried chicken dumpling
4. Strawberry jelly
5. Banana for recess.

Apple Pie bento

Each box consists of :
1. Apple pie
2. Corn on the cob
3. Milk jelly with nata de coco
4. Banana for recess

This apple pie recipe is my kids' favourite, and so easy to make. Using store-bought puff pastry for a shortcut, here is the recipe :

INDIVIDUAL APPLE PIE
makes : 4 pcs

Ingredients :
1 pcs store-bought puff pastry (I'm using Pampas brand) - divide into 4
1 pcs Granny Smith apples - divide into 4 and dice
4 tsp of castor sugar
Cinnamon powder

Method :
1. Get 1 part of a quarter of puff pastry, prick with fork, then line a quarter of diced apple on top of the puff pastry.
2. Sprinkle with cinnamon powder and a teaspoon of sugar.
3. Fold the other half of puff pastry to cover the side with apple on it, and seal the edges.
4. Repeat the process for the rest of the puff pastry.
5. Bake in preheated oven 180C for about 30 minutes or until turning brown.

Banana Chocolate Cheese Puffs (Molen)

It's been nearly ten years since my last time ate this delicious snack. Before, every time I went to Bandung (one of big city in Indonesia), I always bought this pastry for home. It is Indonesian banana chocolate cheese puffs (Molen Pisang Keju Coklat). Luckily I found the recipe in the internet, and tried to make them myself. It tastes pretty good. I think I should roll the dough more thinly though.
Here is the recipe :

Banana Chocolate Cheese Puffs (Molen Pisang Keju Coklat)

For the dough :
500 gr plain flour
1 egg
20 gr unsalted butter
10 gr salt
15 gr castor sugar
200 ml cold water

For the filling :
4 pcs bananas, micro for 20 sec, cut to 10 cm
50 gr cheddar cheese, cut like banana
Nutela (as needed)

Extra :
2 egg yolk + 1 tsp honey, mix together - for glazing

Method :
1. Mix the plain flour, egg, butter, salt and sugar altogether until well mixed. Pour in cold water bit by bit until the dough unsticky. Leave it for 15 minutes in the fridge.
2. To prepare the pastry, flatten with rolling pin and cut into square shape - 10cm x 10cm. Add in filling at the centre of each square
3. Fold in as if you're folding an envelope, cover the centre part with a little square pastry to seal.
4. Brush with egg yolk & honey mixture.
5. Arrange on a lightly greased cookie pan
6. Bake in preheated oven of 180C for approx 15 minutes until turning brown and cooked.
